National Conference on Generative AI in Education 22-24 January 2024

The SentiraXR team will shortly be heading to Ulster University to take part in the National Conference on Generative AI in Education. The event takes place in person at the University’s Derry~Londonderry campus from the 22nd to 24th January.

We’re delighted to have been asked to present around the use of generative AI to interact with patient avatars. Jeremy Carter and Sentira founder, Dr Tony Payton will discuss our pioneering virtual reality training simulations for medical education and outline our experiences using generative AI NLP.

Following the presentation we’ll host a workshop where participants can see a range of healthcare training simulations that use generative AI in VR. These will include training in medical history taking, tracheostomy and drug delivery. For insight into exactly what we do at Sentira, take a look at our recent showreel.

The National Conference on Generative AI in Education aims to give educators, researchers, teachers or students an understanding of how generative AI is revolutionising learning, teaching and assessment.

The conference boasts an impressive speaker lineup. Delegates can expect a series of fascinating keynotes, talks, discussion panels and workshops on AI. They can learn about the latest, cutting-edge technologies and large language models such as ChatGPT, Bard, Claude 2 and Copilot(s). They’ll gain an understanding of how these tools and natural language processing capabilities enable personalised and interactive learning experiences.

In addition, there’ll be a hackathon on AI + Assessment and networking events with leading academics, researchers and industry experts in this area.

AI in Medical Education: A Jisc Webinar

On October 19th, we’ll be taking part in a Jisc webinar that seeks to explore the use of AI in medical education. The session is aimed at anyone working in the field, regardless of whether they have experience using AI.

Educators who have already trained using AI or VR technologies will have the chance to see how Sentira is leading the way in extending this concept.

Attendees new to XR technologies in medical training will see first-hand what is now possible in this area.

Join us for this session where we’ll demonstrate the onboarding, learning and assessment features of Sentira while showcasing our groundbreaking paediatric tracheostomy simulation. We’ll also show how VR and AI can be used to train users in patient history taking and clinical reasoning. Jeremy and Tony will be available after the showcase to answer attendees’ questions.

Sentira wins Innovate UK grant to support VR and AI in medical training

Sentira awarded Innovate UK grant

Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, awards funding to Sentira for a cloud-based VR and AI medical training initiative

MANCHESTER, UK TUESDAY 31st JANUARY 2023

Sentira, a pioneer in the field of VR and AI virtual reality medical training has announced that it has been awarded a highly competitive UK-South Korea Collaborative R&D Grant from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.

The grant will fund a two-year project in partnership with South Korean technology companies Tetra Signum and Health on Cloud, alongside two UK Universities. The project aims to develop an innovative medical education platform for the delivery of medical pharmacology training. The platform will use a combination of AI-supported immersive VR simulations and advanced voice recognition NLP (Natural Language Processing) techniques to deliver realistic clinical scenarios.

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £2 million in innovation projects in partnership with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT). This is to fund collaborative research and development (CR&D) projects focused on industrial research. The funded projects are expected to result in a new product, industrial process or service. They also had to be innovative, involve a technological risk, and have high market potential.

The Sentira submission scored extremely highly and as a result, is one of only a handful of applications to receive funding.
