Sentira XR at the ASPiH Conference 2024: Immersive Medical and Healthcare Training with VR & AI

ASPiH Conference 2024, November 3-5 Edinburgh International Conference Centre

We are excited to announce that Sentira XR will be exhibiting at this year’s ASPiH Conference. ASPiH 2024 is a leading event for professionals in medical and healthcare simulation. Taking place in Edinburgh from 3rd to 5th November, the conference is the perfect opportunity to experience our cutting-edge VR/AI medical training solutions designed to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals.

The Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH), established in 2008, has spent the past 15 years evolving and expanding its support for members while fostering relationships with other societies and commercial partners within the simulation community. Throughout its journey, ASPiH has advanced simulation-based education across the UK, Ireland, and beyond. This year’s conference will celebrate these accomplishments and provide a platform for discussing the future of simulation.

At our stand this year, attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience hands-on demonstrations of our immersive simulations. By putting on a VR headset, you’ll be able to step into realistic medical scenarios that will challenge both your clinical and communication skills.

Here’s what you can expect to explore:

  • Practise Emergency Airway Management: Unblock a tracheostomy tube on a small baby while also managing the emotions of her distressed mother, Esme.
  • Take a Medical History: Interact with elderly cancer patient, Harry. Practise your communication skills and clinical decision-making as you skillfully gather his medical history.
  • Follow the Journey of an Asthma Drug: Gain a deeper understanding of pharmacology. Trace the path of an asthma medication as it moves throughout the body.

These simulations offer a highly engaging way to refine both technical and interpersonal skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Speakers

Several distinguished speakers have already been announced for the event. On Monday, November 4th, Professor Steven Yule from The University of Edinburgh will deliver a keynote address titled “How Human Factors Can Contribute to Improvement of Team Performance and Patient Safety”. Professor Yule is Chair of Behavioural Sciences at Edinburgh and leads international innovations in surgical research, human factors and patient safety.

Professor Roger Kneebone will deliver a keynote on “The Transformation of Simulation Over Time”. Professor Kneebone leads the Centre for Engagement and Simulation Science at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Music–Imperial Centre for Performance Science. His research combines his experiences as a surgeon and general practitioner with his interest in expertise beyond medicine. Since 2019, he has been the fourteenth Professor of Anatomy at the Royal Academy of Arts.

On Tuesday, November 5th, Dr. Claire Kilbride will present the keynote talk, “Simulation in Global Health Partnerships.” Dr. Kilbride is a Senior Clinical Fellow at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. She has extensive experience with Médecins Sans Frontières in various countries and the MSF Field Simulation Team in Barcelona. She currently works with Dharura, a partnership between the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Laikipia County in Kenya, where simulation programs and quality improvement projects are conducted in regional hospitals and clinics.

This year’s ASPiH Conference is a milestone event. It will celebrate past achievements and pave the way for future innovations in simulation-based healthcare education.

We look forward to welcoming you to our stand at the ASPiH Conference 2024. Come and visit us at the Edinburgh International Exhibition Centre from 3rd to 5th November. Experience the future of medical training firsthand, and see how VR and AI are revolutionising medical and healthcare education.
